Bonn: New released 2009 Disaster figures

What can be done to cope with more weather-related disasters?

(Bonner Presseblog) Bonn: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, UNDP, WMO and the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) are inviting media organisations to their joint press conference on 14 December 2009 at 10.30 am in Copenhagen to release the preliminary disaster figures for 2009 and comment on options to reduce vulnerability and help communities adapt to climate change.

The press conference will take place at the Press Conference Room of the Bella Centre in Copenhagen from 10.30 to 11 am

Ms. Margareta Wahlström, the United Nations Special Representative of the UN Secretary- General for Disaster Risk Reduction
Michel Jarraud, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization
Olav Kjorven, Assistant Administrator UNDP and Director of the Bureau for Development Policy

And Professor Debarati Guha Sapir, Director of CRED
